past perfect continuous + since / for / before

USE

Can use the past perfect continuous to talk about an action or event which began before a point in the past and was still continuing up to that point, often with 'for' or 'since', to give background information.

EXAMPLE

Before I broke my leg, I had been playing soccer since I was little.
He had been going to the restaurant that closed down for 20 years. He had been working for 10 years when he finally got a promotion.
